2012 Houston’s Funniest Person Recap/Review

The Houston’s Funniest Person contest was held in May and June of 2011 at The Laff Spot Comedy Club.  The winner that year was Theodore Taylor.  Shortly thereafter, The Laff Spot closed on July 3, 2011.

What was to become of the HFP contest?  Nobody would know until March of 2012.  It was then that the Houston Comedy Union and John Wessling would take control of the event.  There were still a lot of questions to be answered.  Who could enter?  When would it start?  How long would it last?  And most importantly, where would it take place?  On March 6th, all of those questions were answered.

Chase Durousseau: Above the Rest

It took Chase Durousseau just two years to be crowned as Houston’s funniest person back in 2008. In 2011 he was voted as one of the “Top 3 Funniest Comics in Texas”. He’s opened up for the nation’s biggest comedians. The list includes: Damon Wayans, Louis CK, Bill Burr, Russell Peters, Gabriel Iglesias, and Jo Koy. And that’s just some of them.

Chase Durousseau has taken his comedic talents across the globe, performing in Iraq and Kuwait for the U.S. military. He recently performed in the Moontower Comedy Festival in Austin, Texas. And he’s even been heard on Sirius XM Radio’s Raw Dog Comedy. His easy going, fearlessly laid back personality has consistently make him a crowd favorite. And he’s with us today to tell it like it is.
